I was called to the Unitarian Universalist Church of Fort Myers April 13, 2008. I began serving the congregation August 18, 2008. My husband and I have a home in Fort Myers and love the area. My partner Andy is a computer software developer who telecommutes to a small company in California. Andy and I were married in 2006. I graduated from Meadville Lombard Theological School in June of 2008. Before becoming a minister I worked at Planned Parenthood in Chicago. I majored in theatre in undergrad at Northwestern University. The Smoky Mountains are deep in my heart, having grown up in East Tennessee.
However, we are loving Southwest Florida- the sun, the sand, the water! I know that this area needs a progressive, liberal voice, and the Unitarian Universalist Church of Fort Myers hopes to be that voice while providing a safe space for the spiritual journey of Life.
What a great communication!…. loved the pics.
Hi Rev!
Just checking out your blog.
Bob
Hi,
I noticed that you mentioned the community organizing work that is beginning with the Lee County Interfaith Sponsoring Committee in one of your blog posts. I will be living in N Fort Myers this summer and am very interested in being involved in any way possible. I spent last summer interning with a community organizer in Springfield, MA and will be starting grad school in the Fall in social work, so I would love to be involved in the work going on in Lee County while I am home.

Hi Miriam — I’m so glad you are interested in the interfaith organizing. Much has happened since April and a group from our church (as well as groups in all the other churches involved) is having one on one conversations withas many of our people as possible to find out what we feel should eventually be our project in the community. There will be a vote on October 11. Right now I’m on vacation in NC. I hope to talk with you more when I get back. As a member of the group working on this, I really welcome your interest!

Allison, Even though I have rarely been to church recently, I am so glad that you are here and that Fort Myers has such a wonderful UU church and congregation. I look forward to attending your services and seeing everyone, whenever I can get there.
Jesse
Thanks, Jesse! Come to our Blessing of the animals service this Sunday- you will love it!
